I added back a few new framed tiles today. "All that Jazz" and the "Jazz Club" are from my art deco cubist collection of paintings. "Hazy Abstract Sunset" is from my minimalist atmospheric landscapes. Additional tiles can be seen here.

Spare Tiles? Help this woman tile her kitchen backsplash.

I was recently contacted by a customer interested in purchasing a tile for a kitchen backsplash. She told me that she was going to use the tile in 'Project Backsplash' - an idea that she had to collect leftover tiles from people all across the globe to help decorate a backsplash in a new 'fixer-upper' that she'd purchased. She's hoping that people might have a few leftover tiles from other projects that they'd be willing to donate to her cause.

Although she selected "Hello Sunshine" for her project, I also included a couple of other tiles that I thought she might like for her project. (I wanted it to be a surprise, so I won't reveal them in the blog post in case she hasn't received the package yet, but perhaps she'll post a picture of the backsplash when it is complete.) It sounds like a fun project!

Read about Project Backsplash on Apartment Therapy.

I thought that maybe some of my artist friends might also like to participate in her project by sending her one of their art tiles, or if they have a tile or two left over from other projects. I'm sure she'd love them. The address to send the tiles is in the Apartment Therapy link above.

Looking forward to seeing the completed project. Good luck Zazazu!

Great Art Idea for Small Spaces - Framed Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles can be used to decorate more than just a bathroom floor or kitchen backsplash. Ceramic tiles can be framed and displayed on the wall like traditional art. They can also be used with felt tips on the bottom as trivets, coasters, hotpads, etc. Shown here are few of the small framed ceramic tiles that I have in my collection. The tiles are the traditional 4.25x4.25 inch square. The overall framed size is 6x6 inch. The frames have two different holes on the back. One hole allows the framed tile to be displayed on a wall, the other hole allows the insertion of a small dowel rod so that the framed art can be displayed on a table or desktop. This versatile piece of artwork can really bring an otherwise dull small space alive with color. They look great displayed in small groups or as as a single piece of art.

Aquathon 2009 on Twitter and Fundraising Efforts for Playpumps International.

Kirstie Alley, Steve Woods and Aquathon 2009 are combining efforts to raise funds for Playpumps International and aid in their mission to improve the lives of children and their families by providing easy access to clean drinking water across Africa.

Aquathon's goal is to raise money for at least 10 fresh water wells in African communities using the PlayPump water systems.

I donated earlier today and will donate a fraction of the total sales made in my etsy shop through midnight tonight.

Let's help them meet their goal!

First Friday Main Line Event for August 7th in Ardmore, PA

Received an invitation to exhibit my work at the The Ardmore Initiative Office in Ardmore, PA for their August 7th First-Friday Main Line Event.

I'm very much hoping that I can participate. Still working out the details about the hanging of the artwork and the dates at which the artwork can be removed. If all works out, I'll display the pieces at the Ardmore Initiative Office on E. Lancaster for most of August.

Thank you to First-Friday Main Line and the Ardmore Initiative for the exhibition opportunity.

Artwork being considered for new TV series on FOX

Received an email today from a set director for a new FOX TV Series called "Past Life". He is interested in using some of my artwork in the upcoming series. It appears that the show is scheduled to air in January 2010. I'm very excited to learn which pieces they'll select and how they will be used on the set. I will keep you posted on any new information I receive regarding the episodes, air dates, etc.

You can see the trailer for "Past Life" on the "Future on Fox" page on Fox.com. Looks like an exciting new show based on the novel "The Reincarnationist" by M.J. Rose. The series creator is David Hudgins ("Friday Night Lights" and "Everwood").

Evening Sun - New 20x20 Contemporary Landscape

Another new painting created while on vacation so it is ready to ship now. We had a bit of rainy weather, so I thought I'd take advantage of the time indoors and create another painting. This one features a warm sunset glow with a few trees set in the distance along the horizon. Beautiful atmospheric abstract combined with a contemporary landscape.
