Thank you to Cindy at BeatnikBoutique

Thank you to Cindy at BeatnikBoutique for featuring my artwork on her blog today. I appreciate the kind words and the enthusiasm for my artwork.

Cindy is a talented jewelry designer and although we create different works of art, we share a passion for the earthy, natural palette. Many of her current pieces use colors that I use in many of my paintings. Take this gorgeous piece for instance:
The sage green, olive and rich, rustic burnt red are colors that you'll often find in my earthy tree landscapes like the one featured above.

Another piece that I am immediately drawn to is this amazonite bracelet. The colors are rich and dramatic and the design is bold yet elegant. I love the mix of colors and have definitely used combinations from these stones in my artwork. "The Pond" is one image that comes to mind with colors found in this amazonite piece.

Thank you again Cindy for featuring me on your blog today. I enjoy your jewelry and enjoy chatting with you about our passions.

Wishing you continued success! -kristen

A mention in Critical Mass : Philadelphia City Paper

A big "Thank You" to Molly Eichel of Philadelphia's City Paper for picking up the story of "Spirit of Autumn Fire" appearing on the set for Syfy Channel's "Warehouse 13". It's still very exciting to have seen it appear on the past two episodes (Breakdown and Nevermore).

Thanks again Molly!

Today's Newest Paintings :: Where the Water Falls and Blue Tree Trio

Two new weathered and rustic paintings were listed today. The first was inspired by a waterfall and is called "Where the Water Falls". It's an expressionist abstract landscape with complementary blue and golden yellow contrast. I personally love how it turned out! The piece was painted on 16x20 stretched canvas.

The second painting is one from my rustic tree landscapes and features 3 tall skinny trees along the horizon. Bright blues make up the tree against a taupe-olive background. The earth below is a rich, caramel brown. This piece is also 16x20.

Both are sale-priced for a limited "preview".

Exciting!! Artwork appeared on Warehouse 13 (episode Nevermore)

Got a note from a friend who mentioned that they saw "Spirit of Autumn Fire" on Warehouse 13 again last night (Episode "Nevermore"). I thought that the appearance in the episode "Breakdown" might be the only chance to see the artwork on display. But, then I learned from another friend (Thanks Theresa!) that several scenes have been shot in the bed & breakfast where the artwork appears. So, there was a chance that it could appear again. Thanks to those who wrote to let me know you saw it! Terribly exciting!

If you watch "Warehouse 13" be on the look at for "Spirit of Autumn Fire" above the fireplace when scenes are shot at Leena's Bed & Breakfast. Thank you so much to those in the art department for using Lyse and my artwork. It's very exciting! Looking forward to the finale next week.

New Items Added Today. Welcome Spring, All that Jazz and The Pond

I added back a few framed tiles today to my etsy shop. These are wonderful artworks that are ideal for small spaces either on a wall or atop a table/desk.

The framed tiles have predrilled holes that allow for the artwork to be displayed directly on the wall using a nail, or a hole to display an included dowel-rod for easel-type display.

The tiles are ceramic in a cherrywood stained wood frame. Makes a great gift at only $30.00 with shipping included.

Please see my etsy shop for all framed tiles currently available for purchase.

New Items :: Two New Paintings and One New Sea Glass Necklace

This week, I listed two new original paintings and one new sea glass necklace. The first painting "Above it All" is an expressionist landscape inspired by a photograph of a sunset. Cool colors with lots of emotion painted on a 24x24 canvas that is 1.5 inches deep.

The second painting is another in my rustic tree landscape paintings. This one features 4 blue trees along a distant horizon. The painting is a textured mixed media piece with a rugged, weathered look done in a rich warm palette. This piece would look great in rooms accented in woods and leathers.

I also introduced one new crochet wire knit sea glass necklace. Each of the 16 sea glass pieces were individually wire-wrapped and then hand crocheted into a necklace. The clasp is handmade using a wire-wrapped sea glass. Each piece is in a beautiful brown shade which is more rare than the traditional blueish green sea glass. The pieces used in this necklace are genuine found sea glass from the beaches of Kelleys Island in Lake Erie. A unique artisan necklace that is sure to bring compliments to those who wear it.

Alice's Secret Garden as a Framed Tile.

"Alice's Secret Garden" was painted in honor of a special friend of the family who recently passed away. Alice will be greatly missed, but we, as a family, feel so fortunate to have met her. She was an incredible woman with a heart of gold.

The original painting on which this tile is based will be sold on behalf of Alice and the proceeds donated to the Fox Chase Cancer Center. I have also made prints available of the image. A fraction of these profits will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

What an honor to be named AroundMainLine.com's Etsian Artist of the Night. Thank you so much. I just received the email and couldn't be happier. It's been an incredible day with incredible emails. Earlier a friend and fellow etsier let me know that my artwork could be seen on ScyFy's "Warehouse 13". Then tonight I received a wonderful email from the CEO of AroundMainLine.com letting me know that I'd been selected as their Etsian Artist of the Night. It's going to be hard to top the excitement from today.

Exciting News!! Artwork on Warehouse 13 (Episode "Breakdown")

Thank you to Sara of SoapRehab who noticed that Spirit of Autumn Fire appeared in a "Warehouse 13" epsiode last night on the SyFy channel. The episode is called "Breakdown" and it is available online. The artwork appears a few times. The art is on the mantle above the fireplace whenever they film at Leena's Bed & Breakfast. I noted the art appearing at about 1.5 to 2 minutes into the episode and then again at time stamp 20:29 to 21:30 or thereabouts. Very exciting. So happy that she saw it and told me about it. Thanks Sara!!

UPDATE: Sept 2010: The framed print continues to be in several episodes of Warehouse 13 in both Seasons 1 and 2. Look for it whenever they film at Leena's B&B. (In living room, on the mantle above the fireplace.) The artwork can be purchased online with custom matting and framing. If you watch the show and have seen the image, please let me know.  I'm a fan of the show and am thrilled that they continue to use the artwork on the set.
